Hello Wrimos!

Hope your word counts are going well!

Mine need a boost! So I'm having a write in to help me get enthusiastic!

This Thursday (short notice, I know) at UNH in the MUB on the third floor. I'm going to show up some time around 6 PM and stay till around 9 probably. I'll bring a power strip, but please bring extras too, the outlets are there, but somewhat spread out.

So, come if you're interested! I'll be there plugging away and I'll bring the plot box.

All I ask is that you come ready to write! Socializing is great too, but mostly I want to write! (Of course the MUB is huge so anyone who just wants to come to shoot the breeze would totally be able to find space to do it!)

I plan to try for one of those long tables at the end of the MUB closer to T-Hall, but if I can't get that I might try for the opposite end of the MUB, by the stairs.

RSVP not needed but it'd be great so I know if anyone else plans to show.

Some great advice for writers that goes far beyond "Write if you must, but quit if you can" by Kate Elliott. It's geared to SFF writers, but I think it would work for all genre writers and most likely all writers in general. Enjoy!

Welcome again, to nh_nanowrimo!

And especially a big welcome to all those who are new to Livejournal entirely.

I wanted to share a few other writing communities that some of you might enjoy as writing challenges through the year. If any of them strike your fancy go investigate! I'm in all of the ones mentioned here, which is how I know about them.

hundredwords is a community in which you have to write at least 100 words every day for 100 days. If you miss a day you have to start over.

15minuteficlets is a community in which you are given a word and then you simply write for fifteen minutes on whatever comes into your head.

400words is a writing prompt community which endeavors to post daily prompts of which you can choose one to write at least 400 words on. The idea was based on a statement by Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett who said that they always try to write at least 400 words every day.

anime100, tv100, book100, hp100, snape100 and movie100 are drabble communities. A drabble is a short story of exactly 100 words. These communities post weekly challenges and some of them award points to various teams which you can join. These can be quite addictive.

haiku_for_you is a fun little community (that I run) in which you write haiku and share them :)

bodyandsoul100 is a community in which you write 100 short pieces on any original character of your own based on 100 single word challenges or themes.

Is what happens when cheesy movies are playing on TV and every novel you've read for your eng class ends with either everyone dying, miserable, or dead....

Caution: Sappy story ahead.
